The group of 7 peaks above 7,000 m with the world’s highest Mt Everest in eastern Himalayas of Nepal form awe-inspiring landscape protected as ‘Sagarmatha (Everest) National park’. The area of 1,148 sq km that ranges from 2,845 m to the 8,848 m at the top of Mt Everest, is famous for spectacular peaks, glaciers, charming Sherpa villages, mystic Buddhist monasteries and some of the rare species on the earth like snow Leopard, Red Panda. Everest trek ranges short cultural trek of about a week to adventurous 3 weeks’ trek crossing high mountain passes with climbing some of the technical peaks. There are well established teahouses along the route. Even though dirt road extends closer to Lukla these days, Lukla airstrip is still the popular gateway to Everest region.
